The Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis and the Pastoral Care Team welcome you to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center. We are eager to assist you in meeting your spiritual needs. Pastoral Care services are offered to all of our patients, visitors and employees. Illness, trauma and even the aging process disrupt the normal rhythm of our lives and make them unbalanced. When The Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis first came to Peoria and founded St. Francis Hospital, they were concerned about caring for the whole person. Times have changed and our healthcare system has grown, but the focus of the Sisters’caring has not. Healing of the body, mind and spirit for all those who come remains a hallmark of the care received throughout OSF Saint Francis Medical Center. Our staff of professionally trained and certified chaplains seeks to bring a compassionate presence to our patients and their families, and help them regain the awareness of God in those moments of chaos and disease. The chaplains profess a variety of faith backgrounds and minister to all who seek the reassurance and comfort of remembering that God does not forget those whom He calls and loves as His dear children. The chaplains are integral members of the health care team. They visit, pray and celebrate the common rituals that are expressive of the patient’s faith. In every setting, the chaplains are concerned with both patient care as well as recovery at home. The Pastoral Care Department aided by a staff of trained volunteers, works to link patients with their home faith communities. Chaplains are available 24 hours a day to respond to emergencies and requests for their presence. Our chapels are always open and available to all who seek a quiet place for prayer and reflection. OSF Saint Francis Medical Center prides itself on providing care for those who come and quality care of the spirit as well as the body.
