Lung Cancer Screening Program Now Offered
They are often overlooked statistics: Lung cancer kills more women than any other cancer each year - more than breast, ovarian and cervical cancers combined. On average 448 people – men and women – will die of lung cancer each day. Nearly 80% of new lung cancer cases are former smokers or those who never smoked.
If caught early, lung cancer is highly curable through surgery. Early detection is vital.
OSF Saint Francis Medical Center now offers a low dose CT screening program for early detection of lung cancer. It is designed for high risk patients who are smokers or former smokers and are symptom free. The program is not for those who have had lung cancer in the past.
The cost of the low dose CT screening is $200, which includes the scan and interpretation by a physician. The screening is not covered by insurance or Medicare. Call 309.624.5864 to schedule a screening.
