Jump Trading Simulation and Education Center
An Overview
The Jump Trading Simulation and Education Center is a partnership of OSF HealthCare and the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria. For many years, the two entities have worked collaboratively to provide outstanding education to health care professionals and exceptional care to patients. The Center is the result of a generous gift made by Jump Trading to benefit both organizations in recognition of their shared missions. Located on the campus of OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, this facility will improve patient outcomes and lower health care costs through innovative simulation training of medical professionals.
What is Simulation?
Simulation is an important learning tool. It allows health care professionals to simulate or practice medical procedures in a safe, realistic environment. World-class simulation facilities can replicate events realistically. The learners then feel and act as if the situation is real. They can also analyze video recordings of the event. This allows them to identify processes or actions that can be improved. They can even repeat the simulation until the best possible outcome is achieved. For instance, caregivers can simulate an event – such as a child who has stopped breathing – and learn to work together flawlessly to resuscitate that child.
